3 GENERATIONS WITH A PASSION FOR LEADERSHIP & BREAKFAST
The story of Egg Harbor Cafe begins in the Chicago area with Jack and Paula Wright, college sweethearts from Northwestern University who shared a love for early mornings and breakfast.
In 1984, that passion turned into something more when they came across an opportunity in the Chicago Tribune to help bring a new breakfast and lunch concept to life. Believing in the idea, they took a leap and established the foundation for what would become Egg Harbor Cafe.
Seeing its potential, Jack brought in the next generation: his daughter Aimee and her husband Mike. Mike and Aimee fully embraced the venture, training in California and driving a U-Haul filled with booths, tables and more across the country to set up the first location in Hinsdale, IL. What began as a love of going out to breakfast had become something much more: a living, growing business rooted in people and purpose. From the very beginning, it was about more than food. Together, the Wright/Farrell family built the business around a simple idea: take care of people, and the rest will follow.
Today, that same family spirit continues into a third generation. Mike and Aimee’s son, Matt, now serves as President, while their daughter, Cassidy, helps lead growth in the Atlanta area: carrying forward the values of hospitality, quality, and community that have defined Egg Harbor Cafe for over 40 years.

It’s the people who have grown with us, the teams who built their careers here, and the guests who have made us part of their everyday lives. See what’s kept us going, and why it still matters today.
